Cheese and Chive Damper

August 2017 by Horses and People Magazine

Camping in a horse float is so much more convenient when we’re able to flick a switch and have a few comforts of home. But, have you thought about electrical safety?

Like caravans and mobile homes, there are special conditions that need to be considered when using 240 volt power in a horse float as it is not earthed like a conventional building.

Conduct a visual inspection of your power lead each time you use it. It’s very important to look for cuts and damage. If there are single insulated wires protruding out of the end of the plugs or sockets, these need to be repaired immediately before use.

A safety switch should be used if you are plugged into a power circuit which might not have one.
