Influencing Horses: What Kind of Horse ‘Parent’ Are You?

Most of us would be familiar with phrases such as ‘top dog’, ‘alpha male’ or ‘dominant mare’. They refer to the individual at the top of a hierarchy or ‘pecking order’. 

This individual is thought to be the one who is the most dominant over others, to have the most power and authority over others ‘below’. Several assumptions are made about the alpha position in a hierarchy. Here are just three that we can explore in relation to alpha mares.
