Tucker's Barefoot Transition

October 2017 by Maja Stocker, Equine Podiotherapist

When barefoot trimmer Maja Stocker first met Tucker, a 17-year-old Standardbred, and his lovely owner, Anna, he looked rather weary.

While Maja admits to being naturally biased towards ‘blaming’ the hooves, this kind horse seemed to be feeling discomfort all over his body.

It was the 23rd September 2015, he was shod in front, reported to be intermittently lame, and had a history of persistent seedy toe and hoof abscesses.
